HOTEL EL PAISANO, MARFA.......HOME OF 'GIANT'
After our desert wilderness sxperience, we were grateful for a little luxury. 100 miles north of Big Bend is Marfa, a very artsy community where we stayed in this beautiful hotel (only $75 a night!).

Its claim to fame is that it was the headquarters during the filming of "Giant" (1955), starring James Dean, Elizabeth Taylor and Rock Hudson.
Italian Baroque meets Western ranch style.
The hotel was built in 1930 in anticipation of an oil boom that never happened.
